This is a surprisingly competent sci-fi flick. Pretty good pacing, a story that we might have seen before, but told in a way it's not boring, pretty decent effects. I'd much rather watch this in a movie thater than another part o the Marvel Universe. Good job!

This movie won three Canadian Screen Awards, but I wonder if the producers consulted with any real local experts. Why did you use Arab actors to play Afghans? And why is the background music Hindi and Arabic? Afghans are an Iranic people, and their relationship to Arabs is like apples and oranges. The funniest part was the Hyena Road signage with the flags of Afghanistan and Canada on it. It was supposed to be in English and Pashto, one of the main languages of Afghanistan alongside Dari (a dialect of Persian). However, the Pashto was printed left to right instead of right to left, and letter by letter instead of word by word, which made me burst into laughter!
